After a month-long investigation, Kaysville Police arrested suspect John Edwards at a storage unit in Kaysville Wednesday. During the investigation, over 21 pounds of the chemically-enhanced plant concoction was seized, as well as items used in the manufacturing of ‘Spice.’
“We don’t foresee any other arrests,” said Detective Sgt. Paul Thompson with the Kaysville Police.
Police first received information that ‘Spice,’ a chemical substance that was made illegal in Utah in 2011, was being made and distributed in Kaysville in early September. Along with Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force and K-9 units from the Kaysville and Layton Police Departments, police drafted a search warrant on a Kaysville storage unit where several pounds of ‘Spice’ was seized. Evidence at the storage unit led police to an apartment, where after another warrant was drafted they collected more ‘Spice’ and materials used to make it.
