SYRACUSE —The Syracuse Police Department is conducting a traffic checkpoint this weekend as part of its ongoing effort to remove impaired drivers from the city's roadways.

The checkpoint begins Saturday evening, March 15 and continues through the early Sunday morning at 1900 West and 1700 South.

Syracuse Police Officer Erin Behm said in a press release that the location was chosen because of the heavy traffic volume in the area. The northbound access road onto Banbury Drive from 1700 South will be closed to traffic during the operation.
