Some of that courage, and support for those who might be lacking it, are on display in the Bountiful High International Baccalaureate exhibit, running now through the end of the month at Lamplight Gallery. The exhibit focuses on four artists with largely different styles, but a subtle thematic thread ties all the work together into a larger whole.
Hannah Murphy deals with it most directly, with work that touches on image and perception issues. In “Flaws,” the very style of drawing is anxious and magnified, mirroring the effect of someone looking in a mirror and seeing their every failing. In contrast is the delicate, thought-provoking “True Colors,” with the girl melting into the white background and the admonition not to let fear wash your colors away.
