WOODS CROSS — Only 120 people have signed up to receive new Utah license plates that would read “In God We Trust” and picture a flag \instead of showing a skier or Delicate Arch, but Sen. Todd Weiler, R-Woods Cross, is pushing forward with a bill that would make the plates a reality.

If at least 500 people sign up for the plates and if the bill passes during the 2013 legislative session, proceeds from the extra $25 fee would probably go to America’s Freedom Festival at Provo or any other organization that puts on at least 10 patriotic events a year, Weiler said.

You can sign up for the plates by downloading a form at freedomfestival.org  or at davislcipper.com and mailing it, along with a $43 check that includes state licensing fees, to the Freedom Festival’s offices at 4626 North 300 West, Suite 300, Provo, UT, 84604.

“I think everyone’s goal is to get these plates in people’s hands until the Fourth of July,” Weiler said, “but obviously we’re going to have to pick it up.”
