KAYSVILLE —Now you can not only get lost, but scared in the process.
It’s all in the fun of the Halloween season as Tri City Nursery in Kaysville offers its new straw maze and haunted house.
It’s open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, through Oct. 31.
Admission is $40 for a family of five, $10 for adults age 13 and up, $8 for ages 4-12 and free for those 3 and younger. Senior citizen tickets are $8.
A “bounce back” promotion allows visitors to return for $6 for an adult ticket.
“We had a church group there last night. The kids were having a ball,” said Tri City co-owner Mark Lawson.
The partners decided to invest in the maze/haunted house after seeing one in operation in Rupert, Idaho, that was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest in the world.
“This isn’t as big, but we took a look at their idea, some of their designs,” Lawson said. The designer of the Rupert project assisted with Tri City’s creation.
Tri City’s maze is laid out on about four acres, making it fairly large and spread out, he explained.
“It meanders through the back of the nursery. We have a pyramid inside of it, a courtyard as well,” Lawson said.
There are also a couple of 30-foot slides that add another dimension to the experience and a a pedal bike area, a kids’ maze, and even a mock maze for blondes, he said.
For kids younger than 12, there’s a 55-gallon tractor ride that goes around the nursery. There are also pumpkins and a bean pit.
In addition, kids who find hidden and numbered pingpong balls can redeem them for prizes at the concession stand, Lawson said.
