The Utah Highway Patrol made 72 arrests in this weekend's DUI blitz in northern Utah.
UHP was assisted by the New Auto Dealer's Association, who presented UHP with a $5,000 check. The money was used to staff 20 extra DUI shifts over the weekend.
The Blitz was successful in Salt Lake, Utah and Tooele Counties, according to UHP.
In Logan, a trooper was backed into by a 19-year-old impaired driver after he stopped the vehicle for suspicion of DUI. The damage was very minor, the driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI after showing a blood alcohol level of .16, double the legal limit.
