SALT LAKE CITY – An accident involving a northbound FrontRunner train and a semi-truck occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday, injuring at least one person.
The accident occurred between the Woods Cross and Salt Lake City FrontRunner stops, and the injured person is a male in his 50’s.
Utah Transit Authority reported the accident at 5:20 p.m. via its Twitter account. The tweet said the accident occurred between the Woods Cross and Salt Lake City's North Temple stops.
UTA spokesperson Remi Barron confirmed the accident occurred around 5 p.m. He said the injured male was the driver of the semi.
“I know that the driver was taken to the hospital, but (his injuries) don’t appear to be life-threatening,” he said. “There were other minor injuries reported, but didn’t require transport to the hospital.”
Barron was not at the scene of the accident.
Barron added that a bus bridge, which picks people up from accident scenes and transports them to their proper stops, was activated and was taking passengers to the northbound stops.
Although it was believed the accident happened in North Salt Lake, police Sgt. Mitch Gwilliam confirmed with the Clipper that he did not receive a call involving the accident.
