Bountiful 67, Northridge 66
Four players scored in double figures for the Braves, who won their opening game of the season. Sam Merrill led the way for Bountiful with 20 points. Jordan Bleak had 13 points and Zach Seljaas scored 12 in the win.
Davis 72, Riverton 60
Davis outscored Riverton 47-35 in the second half, breaking a 25-25 halftime tie in order to win its first game of the 2012 season. Davis had five players score in double figures, led by Braden Koelliker and Alex Morrell’s 15 points apiece. Abel Porter and Jesse Wade added 13 points each in the win.
Woods Cross 55, Skyline 53
Hayden Grant of Woods Cross scored a game-high 21 points with three 3-pointers to lead the Wildcats past the Eagles on opening night. Skyler Farnes added eight points, and Mike Jacobson, Filipo Mokofis and Brady Cowley each scored six points in the win.
Girls:
Riverton 41, Davis 36
Riverton outscored the Darts in each of the first three quarters in order to take the close win away from Davis. Sarah Beecher led the scoring for Davis with eight points, and Caitlyn Gibson scored seven points in the losing effort.
Bountiful 84, Roy 78
In a high-scoring affair, the Lady Braves stormed back from a 10-point half time deficit in order to take the win in overtime. Bountiful outscored the Royals in the third quarter 21-4, then scored another 20 points in the first overtime to win. Kennedy Merrick scored 20 points and Ashley Eyring scored 19 points in the win.
Viewmont 65, Pleasant Grove 46
Caitlyn Larsen scored a game-high 29 points as the Lady Vikings opened the new season with a 19-point victory over the Pleasant Grove Vikings. Katie Toole scored 16 points in the game, and the Viewmont Vikings outscored Pleasant Grove 30-16 in the first half.
