BOUNTIFUL — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for tonight and Tuesday morning, when a snowstorm could cause major delays for commuters.
It will be caused by a low-pressure system from the north, according to the service. Motorists on I-15, Highway 89 and I-84 should take extra caution.
High temperatures on Tuesday will only reach about 30 degrees.
At about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, the cold front passed Ogden. The temperature fell 10 degrees very quickly, and gusty northwest winds blew across the area.
The snow is expected to taper off by Wednesday, but will come with high winds.
The wind and mountain snow will increase avalanche danger all week, according to the service.
Bountiful is on the northern edge of the expected storm region, but northern Utah valleys overall are expected to get between two and four inches of snow. Northern mountains could get six or more inches.
