LAYTON — Information on federal tuition assistance and tax help is being made available through several events sponsored by Weber State University. Several will be in Davis County.
“Financial hardship shouldn’t be an impediment to pursuing the dream of a college education,” said WSU Provost Michael Vaughan, in a press release. “This program is WSU’s commitment to helping provide entry-level access to higher education.”
Because it is required that applicants file their 2012 federal income tax return before completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application, tax assistance will be available at the WSU Davis campus on Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. It is recommended that those interested in tax assistance schedule an appointment with utahtaxhelp.org or by calling 211.
No appointment is necessary to learn more about FAFSA, at a forum Saturday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. The session will be held at WSU’s Davis campus, 2750 N. University Park Boulevard, room 222, in Layton. The priority deadline for applications is March 1.
More information is available through WSU’s Education Access and Outreach Office, 801-626-7006.
