DAVIS COUNTY — Local non-profits may be able to find a little assistance in the county next door.

To help make nonprofit organizations more successful, the University of Utah is offering the Nonprofit Academy for Excellence to focus on professional certificates that help nonprofits stay afloat in today’s economy.

“Organizations, especially nonprofits, really can’t afford not to invest in their staff during these challenging times,” said Anne O’Brien, Director of Professional Education at the University of Utah.

The certificate-based program, customized for managers, staff and trustees of Utah’s nonprofit community, has a goal to enhance organizational capacity and effectiveness of professionals seeking training and development in nonprofit management.

“Personnel need to be more efficient and strategic than ever to weather the economic storm,” said O’Brien.

It also provides a meeting place for nonprofit professionals to share ideas and strategies and build relationships outside the classroom environment.

“It’s important for nonprofit leaders to realize they’re not alone,” said CEO of Wells Fargo Utah Robert A. Hatch. “There are great resources right here in our own community.”
