SALT LAKE CITY — Amateur cyclists in Davis County who want to experience tough climbs and descents while on a bicycle will have an opportunity to do so soon.

The Ultimate Challenge Bike Ride is looking for cyclists to sign up for a one-time event happening Saturday, August 11.

This year, the challenge runs in conjunction with the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, which takes place August 7-12. New to this year’s event will be an amateur event with three ride options.

The challenge is a non-competitive bicycle ride that allows participants to tackle one of the mountain stages that gives the Tour of Utah its reputation as “America’s Toughest Stage Race”.

All participants will receive ride support, hydration stops, a post-ride lunch and several other souvenirs for signing up.

Prices range from $85 to $150 per rider and the race is limited to the first 600 riders who sign up.

Along with the new, shorter ride options, participants will have unique viewing opportunities of the pro race in Midway and Alpine.

There will also be viewing parties under a main tent to watch the pros battle on Stage Five of the Ultimate Challenge Tour by way of webcasts on television monitors.

Registration is open for all interested riders. For more information on The Ultimate Challenge ride experiences and registration, visit tourofutah.com.
