FARMINGTON С  Acoustical upgrades have been approved for the Davis Conference Center by the Davis County Commission.

“The exposition hall was not designed as a ballroom,” said County Economic Development Director Kent Sulser.

That space was added several years ago and intended originally to serve as exposition space for trade shows connected with conferences.

But demand has grown for the expo hall space to be used as a ballroom, augmenting the Meridian Ballroom, he said.

“There are large groups that would like to use the (expo) space and this will better accommodate them. It adds a range of usage to the conference center,” Sulser said.

CMI Specialty Insulation will install acoustical insulation for $11,700. Sulser described it as a three-inch fiber blanket.

A & D Specialties, meanwhile, was approved to install ceiling insulation, including 36 four-foot by four-foot acoustical panels, for almost $12,600.

“This has been much needed and will help us bring in more events. I think we’ll really notice the difference,” County Commissioner Louenda Downs said.
