CENTERVILLE — Bryan Wolz Anderson was one of only eleven Utah seniors accepted into the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

The Viewmont High student competed against a field of 9,000 applicants for 1,200 spots at the academy.

Cadets can choose between 31 academic majors for the four-year bachelor of science program, and will earn a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation.

To be accepted, candidates had to demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership and athletics, according to a release. It was also necessary to pass a fitness test and be nominated by a member of the  U.S. Congress in the applicant’s home state.
