BOUNTIFUL – Viewmont Vikings crushed the Davis Darts’ unblemished record on Friday night when the opponenets met for the final time in non-region play.

Davis had been riding a 10-game winning streak.

In a typical back-and-forth battle, McKay Johnson scored the game-winning 3-pointer that put an end to the Darts’ winning streak.

Johnson, who finished with 15 points on the night, hit his only 3-pointer in the game as the Vikings held off Davis’ 17-point fourth quarter effort. Jarom Tye led the Vikings with 18 points and eight rebounds, and McKay Butler scored 12 points with seven rebounds in the win.

For the Darts, now 10-1 after preseason play, Braden Koelliker led all scorers with 19 points and 10 rebounds. It was his third double-double this season. Jesse Wade finished the game with 17 points and three assists, and Alex Morrell scored seven points with six rebounds in the loss.

Wildcats score 99 in win

Woods Cross bounced back from its loss against Mountain Crest to score 99 points in a 99-66 win over West last Friday.

The Wildcats scored 57 points in the second half, and scored at least 25 points in each of the second, third and fourth quarters.

Six Wildcats’ players scored at least 10 points, including Brady Cowley (16), Jackson Pohlman (16), Xequille Harry (13), Skyler Farnes (10) and Mike Jacobson (10).

Judging by points alone, Woods Cross’ 99-point blitz was remarkable. In recent years, the closest it has come to reaching such heights was an 86-point game in a win over East on Jan. 28, 2011.

Braves win a pair to close preseason play

The Bountiful’s boys’ basketball team continued its long winning streak last week by taking down Olympus (62-56) and Layton (46-43). The Braves have now won eight straight games since starting the season 1-3.

Against Olympus, Zach Seljaas led the Braves with 18 points and four rebounds, and Sam Merrill finished with a double-double by scoring 11 points with 10 assists. Jordan Bleak and Pere LeSueur also scored in double-figures, adding 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Seljaas shined again against Layton, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double while scoring 14 points. Merrill had a team-high 15 points and Bleak added 11 points in the win.
