Vikings, Braves winless at Lions Tournament

BOUNTIFUL – The Viewmont Vikings and Bountiful Braves baseball teams took the bus to Anaheim, Calif. for their annual trip to the Lions Tournament and haven’t fared well so far.

Viewmont and Bountiful lost both respective games Saturday.

The Vikings played one game Wednesday before leaving, dropping a Region 1 game to Layton.

Vikings lose to Lancers, drop both games at Lions Tournament

The Viewmont baseball team lost all three of its games played last week, dropping a Region 1 game to Layton Wednesday and losing both its games Saturday at the Lions Tournament in California.

Last Wednesday the Vikings lost 14-0 on the strength of the Lancers’ eight-run first inning.

Layton scored three more runs in the second and third innings, and Jaden Berensen held the Vikings to three hits.

At the Lions Tournament in California, the Vikings lost their opening game to Servite, Calif., 9-0 and Laguna Beach, Calif., 9-8.

Bountiful drops both games at Lions Tournament

The Braves baseball team lost both their Saturday games at the Lions Tournament, dropping to Capo Valley Christian 3-2 and Terra Nova 18-6.

The Braves’ initial game against Capo Valley went into extra innings with the game tied at 2-2.

Capo Valley Christian scored a run in the eighth inning to end the game.

Against Terra Nova, Bountiful scored six runs but gave up runs early and often, taking the loss.

Games this week

Viewmont and Bountiful wrapped up their tournament play earlier this week. 

Davis, which played its first game against Syracuse last week, will finish the series against the Titans Thursday at Syracuse High School.

First pitch is 3:30 p.m.
