WEST BOUNTIFUL -- It may take months for police to wrap up their investigation of a West Bountiful man accused of sexual abuse of a child. Benjamin Evans Turner, 47, was booked in the Davis County Jail Sunday on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and 60 counts of attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

On Monday he was charged with first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child, two counts of second-degree felony exploitation of a minor and two counts of class A misdemeanor battery of a minor, in connection with the abuse of three children.

West Bountiful Po-lice Chief Randy Lloyd said Evans was booked on all charges because the crimes were against children.

"When we're dealing with cases involving children, I'd much rather err on the side of caution," he said.

Lloyd said there are several different incidents they're looking at.

Because the investigation is incomplete, Evans was charged with only five counts. Officers are interviewing the children Evans allegedly abused. And there may be more charges added as the investigation continues.

Lloyd said police received a phone tip and went to Evans' home, where they found several questionable items on his computer.

They later interviewed him, and Lloyd said "there were some admissions of guilt," on his part.

He is being held on $50,000 bond.
