WEST BOUNTIFUL — Now that the weather has warmed up, “Rocket Boy” gets the chance to fly again.
The West Bountiful Arts Council will be holding a free night of short films on April 12 at 7 p.m. at West Bountiful City Hall. The event was originally planned for January, but was postponed due to a snowstorm.
“We decided at 6 p.m. that night that holding it then wouldn’t be a smart thing to do,” said organizer Colleen Maloy, speaking of the decision to postpone.
The council will show the films “Rocket Boy” and “Keith Shorts III.” “Rocket Boy” follows a little boy as he attempts to build a rocket that will take him and his dog to the moon.
“The main character goes through a lot of trials to build his rocket,” said Daniel Parker Smith, who directed the movie. “But he doesn’t give up, no matter what.”
“Keith Shorts III,” by local filmmaker Keith Maloy, features a one-man variety show.
“I’d come out as the master of ceremonies, then go offstage and come back as a completely different character,” he said. “I just kind of had fun.”
West Bountiful City Hall is located at 550 N. 800 West.
