Ken Mauchley (left) and Dean Bennett are known as “Rock Hounds” at Autumn Glow Senior Activity Center. They earned their nickname because they enjoy the art of lapidary. With the rocks they’ve bought or found, they cut, grind, and polish them to make jewelry. Silversmith equipment is also available for them to use at the center to make silver surroundings for the stone jewelry. Want to learn a new skill and become a “Rock Hound”? Join them at Autumn Glow Senior Activity Center on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8 a.m. Other senior activity centers offer their own lapidary/silversmith classes. Call them for more details.
