SALT LAKE CITY   Funeral services have been set for Thursday, May 23 for Frances B. Monson, wife of President Thomas B. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She died on Friday morning in a Salt Lake City hospital.

Frances B. Monson was the wife of President Thomas B. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was surrounded by her family when she died, according to a press release from the church.

Monson had been hospitalized for several weeks. She was 85 years old.

Born Oct. 27, 1927, Frances Beverly Johnson Monson was the youngest and only daughter of Franz E. Johnson  and Hildur Both Johnson. She had four siblings.

She married Thomas S. Monson on Oct. 7, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. The couple had three children.

She was known for her love and support of her husband and family, according to the release.

“Never purposely in the spotlight, Frances Beverly Johnson Monson was always gracious, kind and supportive in everything she said and did,” the release stated. “Her quiet influence felt around the world will be missed.
