BOUNTIFUL – The Bountiful Braves and Davis Darts boys’ basketball teams both picked up a pair of wins during the past week, extending their respective winning streaks as they look to take control of their regions.

Bountiful won 74-50 Tuesday night over East. The win marked the team’s 10th straight and second in a row to open Region 6 play.

Sam Merrill and Zach Seljaas were key components to the Braves offense in the past two games. Against the Leopards, Merrill scored a game-high 29 points, including three 3-pointers, and Zach Seljaas added 19 points, also including three 3-pointers.

The duo combined to score 32 of the Braves 48 points in a win over Clearfield last Friday.

Darts find a groove in win

After dropping its first game of the season to rival Viewmont, the Davis Darts have once again found an offensive groove that’s working for them.

Averaging 73 points per game over the last two games, Davis followed its 78-62 win over Syracuse Friday with a 68-54 win over Weber Tuesday night.

In both wins for the Darts, Jesse Wade scored at least 20 points and has maintained a 16-points-per-game average for the season for Davis. Abel Porter has also been a strong offensive weapon. He scored 15 points against Syracuse and 17 points Tuesday night.

Wade, Porter and Braeden Koelliker are all averaging at least 10 points per game for the Davis Darts, whose overall record is now 12-1.

Wildcats bounce back with win over Pirates

Woods Cross’ 59-58 loss over East to open Region 6 play last Friday was quickly forgotten Tuesday night as the Wildcats took down Cyprus 69-43.

The Wildcats were led by a trio of players scoring in double figures. Brady Cowley scored a game-high 18 points with three 3-pointers, and Skyler Farnes and Luke Jowers scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Vikings win streak snapped in loss

Despite a 21-point effort by McKay Richins Tuesday night, the Vikings suffered their first ever loss in Region 2 play Tuesday night, falling to Hunter 48-44.

Richins and three of his teammates combined to do all the scoring for the Vikings. Jarom Tye scored 10 points and McKay Johnson added eight points in the loss, and McKay Butler finished with five points.

All four south Davis County high schools will be on the road Friday. Davis will travel to Layton and Viewmont will go to Kearns in Regions 1 and 2, respectively.

In Region 6, Bountiful and Woods Cross will travel to Cyprus and Highland, respectively.
