WOODS CROSS — The first of two rivalry games against Woods Cross and Bountiful in soccer saw the Wildcats claim a 3-1 victory behind three goals from three different players.

At Northridge, the Darts were stunned after taking their first loss of the season to the Knights in a 3-1 defeat. Over at Viewmont High School, the Vikings took care of business in Region 2 action with an 8-0 win that saw Viewmont score six goals in the first half.

The first cross-town battle between the Lady Wildcats and Braves was a quick scoring affair as the two teams combined to score three goals. Woods Cross took the 2-1 lead after the first half, then added a third goal in the second half in order to pick up their fourth region win in five games.

Ashlyn Farnes, Kyra Fawcett and Jill Richardson each netted a goal for the Wildcats. Farnes’ goal was her 10th on the season, and Fawcett picked up her seventh. Richardson’s goal was her first. For Bountiful, K.J. Eiting scored the only goal in the loss.

Davis’ battle against Northridge was likely to be an easy one for the Darts, who have beaten the Lady Knights in nine of the 10 matches dating back to 2007.

But a pair of first half goals by Northridge, followed by solid second half defense, led to the Knights 3-1 victory as they added a second half goal to seal the win.

Regyn Youngberg was the only Darts player to score in the first half and Northridge’s Kylie Chritensen, Ricci Adams and Rylee Castillo each netted a goal in the upset. Davis has lost two of its last three soccer matches to the Knights, who are currently fifth in the Region 1 standings.

Viewmont’s Region 2 battle with Hunter turned out to be a blowout for the Vikings, who had five different players score at least one goal in an 8-0 victory.
