WOODS CROSS С  Two of class 4A’s top three high school football teams clash Friday night as the East High Leopards head to Woods Cross High School to take on the Wildcats at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats, fresh off a 41-14 win over the Sky View Bobcats, went through their preseason unscathed at 4-0 while scoring at least 26 points in each game.

The team’s offense revolves around quarterback Skyler Farnes and running back Sean Barton, who lead the team in just about every offensive category for the Wildcats.

Farnes, a senior, has shown in the past that he can be a dual threat by running the ball effectively while also throwing the ball with efficiency. Following a season that saw him throw for nearly 2,600 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 450 yards and three touchdowns, Farnes is on pace to copy both those numbers this season.

Through four games the senior has 793 passing yards and eight touchdown passes. He also has 196 rushing yards and has eclipsed his rushing touchdown total from 2011, scoring five touchdowns on the ground so far. Farnes also isn’t too prone to making any mistakes, throwing only one interception in 80 passing attempts so far.

Barton has proven to be as big of a weapon on offense as he is on defense. The senior is fifth on the team in tackles (12) and already has a sack as a linebacker. Offensively he leads the team in receiving yards (278) and touchdowns (three), and rushing yards (495).

Aside from Barton at receiver, Farnes has spread the ball around to four other receivers that have neared or eclipsed 100 receiving yards so far. Marcus Teller is second on the team with 161 receiving yards and Filipo Mokofisi has 125 yards and a touchdown.
