WOODS CROSS С In the final games of the regular season, both Woods Cross and Bountiful won their volleyball matches over Judge Memorial and Clearfield, respectively.

Davis lost its final match of the regular season Wednesday to Fremont, and will not be making the playoffs for the first time in Lori Salvo’s tenure.

Woods Cross sweeps Judge Memorial, goes unbeaten

The Wildcats volleyball team finished the regular season Thursday afternoon by sweeping Judge Memorial in three sets.

The win also completed an undefeated regular season for the Wildcats, on top of its Region 6 title.

The first set turned out to be the most tightly contested of the three, but Woods Cross still won it 31-29. The Wildcats followed it by winning 25-17 and 25-20 to complete the sweep.

The Wildcats will be the No. 1 seed from Region 6 in the 4A State volleyball playoffs, which starts Thursday at Utah Valley University.

Bountiful sweeps Clearfield to take No. 2 seed

The Bountiful Braves volleyball team used its final home match of the regular season to lock up the No. 2 seed from Region 6 heading into this week’s State 4A volleyball tournament.

The Braves swept Clearfield 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-18), and overtook Judge Memorial for the No. 2 slot after the Bulldogs lost to Woods Cross the same day.

The Braves finished the regular season 11-3 in Region 6, and were 14-8 overall.

Lady Darts lose final match, still make playoffs

The Davis Lady Darts volleyball team lost its third straight match last Wednesday afternoon, but were still able to capture the No. 4 seed from Region 1 for this week’s State 5A tournament.

The Darts took a 3-0 loss to the Fremont Silver Wolves; however, Syracuse’s loss to Northridge on the same day allowed the Darts to take the final spot.

Matches this week

The State 4A and 5A volleyball matches started Thursday morning at the UCCU Center, located on the campus of Utah Valley University.

The semi-finals and finals will be played on Saturday, Nov. 8.
