Public and private elementary and junior high schools should register for the Davis County Spelling Bee between Sept. 10 and Oct. 31 at a cost of $99. Schools should also plan to hold school-wide bees by the end of January, 2013 so their winners can progress to the preliminary bees for North Davis and South Davis regions. Students in home school can also register, at a cost of $33 per student or $99 per family. Individual entrants will automatically qualify for the regional contests.

The semi-final bee for North Davis County schools will be held Feb. 7, 2013 at Layton High School. The South Davis County Bee will be held at Bountiful High School on Feb, 19, 2013.

The final Davis County Spelling Bee will take place at Woods Cross High School on March 21, 2013. Each finalist will have a chance to be photographed and recognized in special sections of the Davis Clipper and Utah Islander. All proceeds will go toward scholarships for winning spellers.
