Bountiful and Davis continued their winning streaks – the Braves have now won 10 in a row while the Darts picked up its sixth straight win. Viewmont continues to look for its first region win while Woods Cross lost its two region matchups.

Davis

Davis jumped on Weber early with four runs in the first inning. Two five-run innings – in the third and fifth – sealed the deal for the Darts in a 14-0 win.

Maggie Miller had three hits and two RBIs while Sidney Eyre drove in three runs on two hits. Mia Cullimore picked up the win on the mound.

“Maggie and Sidney had great days at the plate and Mia pitched a great game,” head coach Mylei Zachman said. “It was fun to see everyone play well.”

Against Clearfield on April 27, the Darts won 5-2, leading 4-0 before Clearfield scored its two runs. Davis added a run in the fifth inning.

Kya Wilmott went 3-for-3 from the plate to lead offensively while Maggie Miller and Carley Croshaw hit home runs.

Davis is now 15-5-1 overall with a 7-2 Region 1 record.

Bountiful

Bountiful defeated Woods Cross 6-4 on April 24. Dashani Purcell had two home runs that resulted in three RBIs while Sophie Stoddard also assisted offensively with two doubles and a single. Freshman Shambre Maestas gave up nine hits to Woods Cross in the win.

Against Fremont on April 25, the Braves scored 19 runs through three innings to dominate the Silverwolves. Two of Alyssa Bowles’ three hits were homeruns in the first and second inning and she recorded eight RBIs. Purcell picked up three hits and three RBIs while Libby Hawker drove in two runs on a hit. Freshman Corinne Hall was the winning pitcher with a three-hitter.

Bountiful is now 13-2 overall this year with an 8-1 Region 5 mark.

Viewmont

Viewmont lost to Box Elder 19-6. Box Elder jumped out to a 17-0 lead before Viewmont put up four runs in the bottom of the third. The scoring was too little, too late in the team’s ninth region loss.

“We had one tough inning [the second inning where Viewmont gave up 12 runs],” head coach Collette West said. “We had six errors which cost us a lot. My girls battled back and extended the game longer.”

Morgan Tanner hit a grand slam while Emily Barton, Hannah Simonson and Mariah Wilson had doubles for the Vikings. Barton allowed six runs on the mound.

Viewmont is 1-15 on the season.

Woods Cross

Woods Cross faced Region 5 leader Bountiful April 24 and scored the game’s first runs and last runs, but it was not enough in a 6-4 loss.

Jade Valdez and Madi Durrant each had two hits and an RBI to lead the Wildcats offensively.

“Boutniful is a good team,” head coach Casey Plowman. “We scored one run in the first and we held them 1-1 for three innings. We never gave up after they put a few more runs on us; we just couldn’t score the runners on base when they were there.”

Against Roy on April 26, Woods Cross lost 10-4. The Wildcats were down 8-0 before putting four runs on the board. Roy added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth in the loss.

Jess Wall had two hits and two RBIs to lead the offense for Woods Cross.
