CENTERVILLE—Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a suspect in the attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old boy in Centerville Tuesday afternoon.
The boy reported to police that a man approached him as he was walking home alone along 400 West near Jennings Lane (1700 North) between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 28. He said the man offered him candy and when he refused it, the man allegedly grabbed the boy by the shirt and picked him up. The victim told police that he punched the suspect in the face and was able to escape by running and hiding in a nearby park.
The suspect is described as a white male with blond hair, around 30 years old with a tattoo on his neck and wearing a black shirt and blue shorts. The vehicle is described as an older model blue sedan, possibly a four door, according to police.
Centerville Police have increased patrols in the area before and after school and informed the Davis School District. So far, no one interviewed witnessed the incident. Please contact the Centerville Police at 801-292-8441 with any information.
