Airplane talk features Davis county speakers

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Beginning Saturday, Jan. 10, Hill Air Force Base will feature speakers from Davis County who have flown, engineered or in some way worked with B-24 planes or MH 53 helicopters.

Each month, the Hill Aerospace Museum hosts Airplane Talk every Saturday afternoon. At 1 p.m. in the Hill Aerospace Museum Theater, experienced air crewmen speak about personal experiences with aircraft. The programs are free and open to the public.

On Saturday, Jan. 10, Ed Metcalf, a current resident of Clearfield, will talk about his experiences as a navigator/bombardier on the B-24. Metcalf flew with the 446th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force from Flixton Air Field during 1944-45.

The next Saturday will feature Col. Sam Ramsay, a current resident of Syracuse. Ramsay flew the B-52 during the Gulf War and is now with the Utah National Guard. He will talk about his experiences with the B-52 as well as with the KC-135.

TSGT Clint Royce, a resident of Layton, will speak the following Saturday of his experiences as a flight engineer on the Utah National Guard’s VIP aircraft.

SMSGT John Adrian will finish up the January Airplane Talks on Saturday, Jan. 31. Adrian is a resident of Layton and will talk about his experiences as a flight engineer on the MH 53 helicopter. He flew from Udorn, Thailand in 1968.
