WEST BOUNTIFUL — It’s a chance to experience music born of both Davis County and the other side of the world.

Composer and performer Etsuko Chidester will be sharing her original Japanese songs with audiences at an upcoming free concert on March 11 at 7 p.m. at the West Bountiful City Hall (550 N. 800 W.) The concert, sponsored by the West Bountiful Arts Council, will cap off a tour she recently did in Japan for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“She charmed audiences there,” said Colleen Maloy, who organizes the concerts. Chidester was also involved on the Japanese adaptation of LDS performer Janice Kapp Perry’s “When Love Leads the Way” CD.

All of Chidester’s children are musical, with Joshua playing the oboe, Lisa playing the violin, and Amy playing both the violin and the piano (a second son, a guitarist, is currently on a mission).

Though the recent tour means that the March 11 concert won’t involve her children as much as the previous West Bountiful concert the family did, they will likely still join her on a few numbers.
