Tony was born in South Norfolk, Va., living most of his youth in Baltimore, Md., and Lois was born in Rexburg, Idaho.
They are the parents of five children: Edith Virginia Ste-phenson (Jon), Milton Lynn Bernard (deceased) (Annette), Paul Vincent Bernard (Irene), Nannette Louise Bernard, and Russell Briant Bernard (Julie). They are blessed with 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
They have been active in the genealogy and family history program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since their marriage, along with their many other assignments.
Music has been one of the highlights of their family life, with each of their children studying piano, organ, flute and violin. In addition, Tony studied voice and sang first tenor in 16 operas with the Utah Opera Company.
Together they founded and operated the Bernard Typesetting Corporation and the Quality Stamp and Sign Company in Salt Lake City in 1955. In 1983 the company was sold to their youngest son, Russell, of Centerville.
