A Sandy man who was to be married in Layton on Saturday postponed his wedding, but not because he wanted to. Kent Sadler, 24, is in LDS Hospital, recovering from several stab wounds he suffered at his apartment complex in Sandy just as he was supposed to leave for Layton. Sandy Police Sgt. Michelle Burnette said Sadler, who was to be married between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on Saturday, was found at the bottom of a flight of stairs leading to his apartment. He told police he had been attacked. Burnette said a neighbor heard what sounded like thumping down the stairs leading to Sadler's apartment at the Legends at River Oaks apartments, 9425 S. Riverdale Drive, in Sandy.
When found, Sadler had several stab wounds at different sites on his body. Burnette said there was no indication of a struggle inside the apartment, but blood was found near the exterior of the staircase, near the door to Sadler's apartment. A trail of blood led to Sadler. A knife was found alongside him.
Burnette had no explanation for the attack, but the knife and samples of blood have been sent to the State Crime Lab.
