The Orchestra at Temple Square presents A Winter Concert, with Igor Gruppman conducting and guest violinist Eugene Ugorski. This concert will be performed in the Conference Center auditorium on Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The repertoire for this concert will be the Violin Concerto in D, by Tchaikovsky, with Eugene Ugorski as soloist; Firebird Suite, by Stravinsky; and Bolero, by Ravel.

Eugene Ugorski is one of the most exciting violinists to emerge in recent years. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, to a musical family, he began studies at age six with master violinist and professor Vesna Gruppman after the family immigrated to the San Diego area.

At just 16 years of age, Ugorski has performed concerts with orchestras in Western Europe, Russia, Canada, the United States, and South America, working with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Audrey Boreyko, Keith Lockhart, and Roberto Minczuk.

He continues to study with Mrs. Gruppman as well as Igor Gruppman, one of the world's most respected concertmasters and conductor of the Orchestra at Temple Square.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. The length of the concert is approximately 90 minutes.
