WOODS CROSS — Utah Connections Academy, a new, accredited provider of virtual schooling for students in grades K through 12, will be hosting a free information session at the Hampton Inn in Woods Cross on Tuesday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The school, which is tuition-free, will provide an “online education alternative for families seeking high-quality, flexible and customized education,” according to material provided by the academy.

Curriculum, instructors and technology will be offered at no cost to the families participating.

“This is not home schooling,” said the release. “It is essentially a public school without walls.”

The academy is currently available in states that allow virtual education, which includes Utah. It is an option for families who need flexible education environment because of medical conditions or scheduling challenges.

The curriculum is teacher driven, with the caregivers serving as education facilitators or learning coaches. Each child is given a Personalized Education Plan that addresses the strengths, weaknesses, education and career goals of the student. The curriculum is then tailored to the individual student and is constantly evaluated, said the release.

The Hampton Inn is located at 2393 S. 800 W., Woods Cross.
