"There will still be a Miss Farmington, but the state rules say that if a competition has 10 or more girls entered, there is eligibility for a second crown," said Mayor Scott Harbertson. "We had 19 girls in our Miss Farmington Pageant, so coordinator Kari Dutson applied for a second crown. With this new title we would have two queens and four runner-ups in this group."
The name for the second crown was originally going to be "Miss Legacy." After much discussion among the council members, the name was decided on Miss North Cottonwood Canyon. Other suggested names included "Miss Farmington Canyon," "Miss Farmington Bay" and "Miss Eagle Bay."
"This will be a brand new thing to have two titles like this," said coordinator Kari Dutson. "Only a few other cities in the state do this."
The pageant for the title of Miss Farmington and Miss Cottonwood will take place at the end of May, and more information can be found by calling Kari Dutson at 451-6553 or the Farmington City Offices at 451-2383.
