Garth Hanks King, of Kaysville, celebrated his 80th birthday at a dinner held in his honor with his family.

Garth was born on March 26, 1927, in Clearfield to Florien B. King and Phyllis Hanks King. He graduated from Davis High in 1945. He married Doris Gunnell Wood on June 18, 1947. Doris passed away Nov. 9, 1994. He married May Webb on May 17, 1996.

He worked in the construction industry for most of his life. Since his retirement he has helped build homes and many other projects for his children and grandchildren. He enjoys woodworking, especially Intarsia, where his talent as a true craftsman is displayed.

He has been an active member of the LDS Church, serving in several different positions.

His children and their spouses are: Scott and Sharon King, Kathy and Mark Buchanan, Laurie and Dennis Miller, Jim and Charlene King, Marla and Lance Robinson. He has 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
