1921 - 2007
Grant Pope, 86, passed away in his home in Bountiful, Utah, on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 17, 1921, in Monroe, Utah, the son of Mark and Valda Pope of Kanab.
He served in the Army in WWII. Married Emily Flohn and had two children together. After Emily's passing, he married Olive Serafini in the Bountiful LDS Temple in 1998. He was a contractor and master craftsman. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and was a devoted member of the LDS church. He served in many church callings, a stake mission and several building missions. He also enjoyed his ordinance work in the Bountiful Temple.
He was a wonderful and caring husband, father and the world's best "Papa". He enjoyed a special relationship with his step-son, David (Laura) Plumb and their five children from Vernal.
Survived by his wife, Olive; son, Steve (Kathy) Pope, Kansas; daughter Jan (Jeff) Pratt, Lehi; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Emily and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at the LDS Chapel 3317 South 800 West, Bountiful. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Monday morning 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
