Editor:

The original Constitution states that you must be a natural-born citizen to be President of the United States.

This is the only position in our government where you must be a natural-born citizen. Fearful of the potential influence of foreign powers, America's founding fathers included a provision for this in our constitution.

Some think this is an outdated provision, I hope that most Americans think otherwise. Senator Orrin Hatch, who seems very out of touch with America and Utah's point of view, has sponsored this legislation along with Dana Rohr-abacher, a Republican from California.

Orrin Hatch is pro-illegal immigration, he has also designated $90 million of our education money for 'illegal" immigrants. Perhaps an illegal immigrant can be president, and then the border between us and Mexico and any other country will be even more porous.

Hatch and Rohrabacher believe that Arnold Schwarz-enegger will be a good president, but this legislation will cover all potential immigrants to be president, not just Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Please call Orrin Hatch and Senator Robert Bennett and state your feelings on this issue; having a Muslim run for president of the United States would be disastrous.

Whatever your feelings on this issue are, call and let your senators know.

If we do not do anything, anything can happen: Hatch (202) 224-5251, Bennett (202) 224-5444.
