DAVIS COUNTY -- With the fall sports season winding down, the boys prep basketball schedules have been released.

However, schools with football teams in the playoffs are holding off on tryouts until the gridiron season is over.

Not so for Woods Cross, however, as their football season is done, and are holding tryouts this week. Look for complete previews of Woods Cross and other Davis County teams in future editions of the Clipper.

The Wildcats will try and repeat as region champs, and still have a bitter taste in their mouth after losing in the first round of the 4A state playoffs to Provo.

The Wildcats open up at Layton on November 23. Other pre-season opponents include Judge Memorial, Timpanogos, Tooele, Viewmont and Kearns.

Woods Cross opens up region play January 7 at West.

The Bountiful Braves missed the state tournament last year, and will try and turn things around beginning on November 23 against PineView.

The Braves will also play Lone Peak, Judge Memorial, Copper Hills, Viewmont, Davis and Hunter in the pre-season.

Bountiful's first region game is January 4 at home against Highland.

Davis had a rough year in 2003, and lost to Clearfield in a play-in game for the 5A state tournament.

The Darts start their 2004 season at Provo on November 24.

Other pre-season games for Davis include Bingham Orem, West Jordan and North Forsyth, North Carolina in the Ragu Classic at the E-Center in West Valley City, Alta, Bountiful, Roy and Cottonwood.

The Darts open up region play January 7 at Fremont.

The Viewmont Vikings were beaten in the first round of the 5A state playoffs by West Jordan. The Vikings will also play in the Ragu Classic against Mt. Tabor, North Carolina.

Other pre-season game for Viewmont include Woods Cross, Cottonwood, Bountiful, Orem and Skyline. The Vikings will also be making a trip to San Diego, California at the end of December to participate in a tournament.

The Vikings' first region game is January 7 at Weber.
