FARMINGTON -- The three people charged with kidnapping after an 11-hour hostage situation last week appeared in court to have arraignments set. The three were booked into the Davis County Jail on the second-degree felony charge following a hostage situation at the Stonehedge Apartments in Layton. Police believe it was an effort to collect a drug debt. Arraignment was set for July 28, for Ryan Deon Richardson. He had kept his own four children and another child, as well as the children's mother hostage. Precious Thomas, 25, also of Layton will face arraignment on Aug. 1. Second District Judge John Memmott released Thomas on her own recognizance, as long as she cooperates with the state Division of Child and Family Services, which has custody of her children.

She and Orlando M. Hill, 26, Ogden, allegedly kidnapped a man and took him to North Ogden, where he was able to escape and call police. The pair were detained by North Ogden police.

Two arrested in F.H. shooting

FARMINGTON -- Davis County Sheriff's detectives have arrested two in the shooting of a 22-year-old Fruit Heights man last Saturday.

Richard Ernest Willden, 36, Layton, faces charges of attempted criminal homicide and possession or use of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

Adam Troy Cozart, 23, Ogden, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, theft by receiving stolen property, possession or use of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, and attempted criminal homicide.

Braden Larkin was working on his car in his driveway about 2 a.m. Saturday, when two males stopped to ask him some questions, according to Davis County Sheriff's Lt. Brad Wilcox. One of the men pointed a shotgun and fired.

The bullet hit Larkin in the neck.

Larkin has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, Wilcox said.

No bail has been set at this time. Wilcox said more arrests are possible.
