"The last couple of weeks I had the good fortune of attending the state semifinal and final football game between Davis and Skyline and Davis and Cottonwood," he said in a statement prepared for the just-released city newsletter.
"I want to congratulate the young men on our DHS team. Yes, for their state championship, but even more for the character they possess," he said.
"As I have watched this team come together this year, it is very apparent they are a special group of young men that have truly exemplified what the word TEAM stands for.
"They have proven themselves as winners, not only on the field, but in life," Cook continued.
"I am sure I speak for all the citizens of this community when I thank them for the great year and, more importantly, for being who they are as young men."
