Troy Thornton, of Bountiful, will be celebrating his 80th birthday Sept. 16, 2004.
Troy was born in Parowan, Utah, and has lived in Salt Lake City; Portland, Oregon; Las Vegas, Nev.; and in Bountiful for the past 30 years.
Troy is married to Rosaland Bergeson Thornton and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2002.
Troy is a retired trust officer for Zions Bank, and has been active in many church and civic activities.
He especially enjoyed his six years as an LDS bishop in Las Vegas.
Troy was chairman of the Miss Bountiful Area and Miss Davis County Scholarship Pageants and was the Utah State chairman for the Jr. Miss program.
He also is a past president of the South Davis Sons of the Utah Pioneers.
Troy and Rosaland have three children, Randall Thorn-ton, Draper; Sandra Martinsen, Murray, and Kandis Mama-nakis of St. George and ten precious grandchildren who will honor him at a special affair Sept. 25 in Salt Lake City.
