Instead, Bountiful residents and businesses will received a semi-annual bill in July (for the July to December service period) and a bill in January (for the January to June service period) from the South Davis Sewer District.
Before, Bountiful residents were billed monthly with sewer service included as part of an itemized utility bill. Now they will be billed in advance. This will not impact the cost to individual homeowners.
"Residents will pay the same, $5 per month or $30 for six months," said District Supervisor Dal Wayment. "Before, Bountiful included this on an itemized bill with other utility fees. But, it just wasn't cost efficient to send out a separate bill for just $5 every month."
All apartment dwellers will be charged $5 as well.
"South Davis has a fairly liberal past due policy," added Wayment. "A bill is not past due until the end of the six-month period and there is a 30-day grace period."
On January 1, 2004, South Davis assumed responsibility for the ownership, operation and maintenance of the sewer system serving Bountiful City. That means all questions on charges and service or calls for related problems -- backups, odors, manhole hardware, etc. -- should be directed to the South Davis Sewer District.
The district has been serving Centerville, North Salt Lake, West Bountiful, Woods Cross and part of Bountiful since 1959. With the transfer of the the Bountiful sewer system, South Davis now owns, operates and maintains all of the sewer system in South Davis County.
Offices for the South Davis District are located at 1800 W. 1200 North in West Bountiful. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Area residents with questions about the changes may call 295-3469.
