BOUNTIFUL -- The Flamethrower, a truck that literally shoots fire from its exhaust pipes, was the highlight of Bountiful Rotary Club's luncheon for "Cruisin' the Boulevard." The truck, along with the other cars displayed, was part of the club's effort to bring in sponsorship money and increase awareness of the event, which will take place June 9 and 10. Cruisin' the Boulevard will include a street party, contests, a climbing wall, kids activities and, of course, a car show featuring the Flamethrower, Greg Biffle's Nascar #16 National Guard car, and any other classic or show-worthy cars that register. The show and all activities will be paid for by the title sponsor, Burt Brothers Tires, but the Rotary Club is looking for additional sponsors whose money will go directly to the charity "Coats for Kids."

The charity provides new winter coats, boots and mittens to children in the area who are identified as in need by elementary school principals and teachers.

The Rotary Club also passed out posters, handouts and cards advertising Cruisin' the Boulevard for local businesses to display and distribute.

"We really want the community to come out" to the event, said Chris Simonsen, one of the Rotarians responsible for promoting the show.

For more information, or to become a sponsor or register a car, go to the club's Web site at www.bountifulrotary .com or call Simonsen at 292-6141.
