BOUNTIFUL -- South Davis residents are invited to a Town Meeting on Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. in the South Davis Branch Library, 725 S. Main, to discuss pending legislation and issues prior to the 2007 session of the Utah Legislature. Present at the meeting will be Sen. Dan Eastman, Reps. Sheryl Allen and Paul Neuenschwander and State School Board member Kim Burningham, who will answer questions and solicit input from residents.

Eastman and Allen are veteran legislators, and Birmingham is a long-time state school board member, while this will be the first legislative session for Neuenschwander.

Allen said it is a vital meeting for legislators to hear from their constituents going into the legislative session.

Those attending will be asked to fill out a questionnaire asking their opinion on a wide variety of topics such as the recommended tax cuts, taxes on oil and gas mined in Utah, increased public education funding and charter schools, and the all-day kindergarten program proposed by Gov. Jon Huntsman.

The 2007 legislative session begins next Monday, Jan. 15.
