Shelbi Tyteca started the game striking out two batters in the first inning, while giving up one of Davis' three hits the entire game as she shut down the Darts 1-0.
The game started as a pitching duel between Tyteca and Davis' pitcher Mckenzy Mackay, as neither team was able to scratch across a run. Through the first four innings, Mackay only allowed three scattered hits.
She stranded every runner by getting groundouts and using a hard-spinning change up that buckled most Viking hitters.
Tyteca would do the same. Getting ground balls and striking out hitters as her defense stayed on their toes and took care of every batter she wasn't able to strikeout. As the two pitchers traded places, the results were the same.
Until the fifth inning, when there was two out and nobody on, the two seemed deadlocked into going extra innings, matching outs batter for batter, pitch for pitch. Then Tyteca stepped up to the plate, looked at a 1-1 fast ball and pulled it over the left field fence for a home run.
"I told you," the former Darts baseball player said after Tyteca hit her homer. "Now she'll shut us down on the mound. We don't have a chance."
Tyteca took to the mound in the sixth inning with a firm one run lead. After Becky Simonsen singled to left field and was sacrificed to second, Jillian Esparz almost reached base thanks to a bobbled ball.
It was quickly recovered and she was thrown out, but Simonsen was able to move up to third and it looked as if the two teams were headed into extra innings.
Tyteca was able to get Courtney Jarrell to ground out for the final out.
Tyteca didn't let a single Dart player on in the seventh, as she finished the inning by striking out Jacee Page then Mckinzy Calapp, and forced Ali Smith to foul out to first to end the game.
In all, Tyteca went two for four at the plate, getting a single to go along with her home run. She also struck out 10 Darts and pitched a complete game.
Mackay also pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and struck out six.
Viewmont's next opponent will be Syracuse at home, while the Darts will look to win their first region game against Clearfield on the road.
