BOUNTIFUL -- For the 15th year in a row, Viewmont High School choir director, Jeanne McGuire, took her Madrigal choir to New York. The Madrigals had the opportunity to perform in high schools throughout the tri-state area including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. "The purpose of the tour is to have a cultural experience, both as performers and as music- and theatre-going au-dience members," said Mc-Guire. "I would rate this trip a 10," said Ashley Bell, a member of the Madrigal choir. "I loved every single minute."

"We have toured other places over the years, but New York seems to fit us best," said McGuire.

The Madrigals also attend as many as six Broadway shows some years. This year, some attended "Wicked" and "Mary Poppins." "'Wicked' was wicked," said choir member Nathan Kasparian. "'Mary Poppins' was spectacular," said member Nathan Kmetzsch.

The Madrigals then toured the city, visited Ground Zero, learned about the public transit system and also were able to attend a Yankees game. "The game was amazing," said Stephen Taylor, a member of the Madrigal choir. "This trip was the best cultural experience ever. New York is definitely an interesting place."

"We sang the National Anthem in the great hall at Ellis Island," said Bell. "It was totally impromptu, but way cool."

The Madrigals agree that the trip was incredibly organized and fun.
