BOUNTIFUL -- Frank H. Delost of Bountiful's Medicine Shoppe pharmacy has received the Bowl of Hygeia Award by the Utah Pharmacists Association.

Delost is a past board member of the Utah Pharmacists Association and has also served on the Davis County Council on Aging, is a long-time member of the Exchange Club of Bountiful and has been a pharmacist for 51 years.
The award was established in 1958 to recognize pharmacists who exhibit outstanding records of civic leadership.
Post offices will be open late
BOUNTIFUL -- The Bountiful and Layton post offices will be among 27 Utah postal facilities providing late night mail collection on Tuesday, April 17, to assist last-minute income tax filers.
Both post offices also offer 24-hour Automated Postal Centers. Customers using debit or credit cards and requesting mailing labels will receive April 17 postmarks as long as the labels are printed before midnight.
The U.S. Postal Service, however, encourages filers to mail their tax returns early in the day, with correct postage a must. First-class postage is 39 cents for the first ounce and 24 cents for each additional ounce. Postal customers are encouraged to check the collection times posted on each mailbox to ensure they will be picked up on April 17.
Those mailing tax returns late in the day should take them to collection boxes directly outside the Bountiful and Layton post offices.
Seminar: Seeing through fog
KAYSVILLE -- A free seminar to help "see through the management fog" has been set for Friday, April 27, 8-9:30 a.m., at the Davis Applied Technology College.
"CAPA Root Cause Analysis" deals with helping a business keep its head above water, no matter what the cause. A company may be struggling due to rapid increase in business, lack of manpower, or other factors.
That can cause a defensive, rather than offensive, pattern. This means management tends to put out fires, rather than prevent them. A smarter way to manage when problems repeat themselves is to get to the root of the problem, figure out what's causing it, then determine a solution to prevent the problem from happening again.
Space is limited. Call 593-2325 or e-mail DATCECE@

Farms get deadline extension
The Utah State Farm Service Agency has announced that the sign-up deadline for the 2007 Direct and Counter-cyclical Program has been extended to Aug. 3, 2007. The extension is due to earlier problems with the agency's computer network.
A late filing fee of $100 will only be assessed for farms that enroll after Aug. 3 and before Sep. 30. Enrollment for the 2007 contract period began Oct. 1, 2006, and originally was scheduled to end on June 1, 2007. Farm Service Agency officials note the extension applies only to the enrollment time frame but does not extend the annual contract period of Sep. 30, 2007.
