WEST BOUNTIFUL -- Self-taught pianist Estuko Miyazato Chidester will be the featured musician at West Bountiful Arts Council's monthly concert on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the West Bountiful City Hall, 550 N. 800 West. Chidester grew up in Okinawa, Japan, where she attended junior high, high school and a Christian college. She finished her formal education with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Meisei University.

During junior high school Estuko began to teach herself how to play the piano. She joined the LDS Church when she was 17 years old, and a few years later began to create music that shared her feelings and faith.

In 1989 she released two cassettes taped in Japanese titled "Remember the Lord's Love" and "Eternal Friend." Chidester has performed many concerts and firesides all over Japan since that time. In 2001 she released a CD, a remake of her original "Remember the Lord's Love" with new arrangements and three new songs. Many of Chidester's songs are still sung throughout Japan in church meetings and services.

Chidester and her husband Rick have four children, who all take after their mother in their love of music and play their own instruments, including violin, piano, guitar and oboe.
