OREM -- The Davis girls basketball team continued its winning ways in the first round of the 5-A state playoffs at UVSC with a 49-40 win over Jordan. The Beetdiggers were the No. 4 seed out of Region 2, but they gave the Darts a run for their money, before Davis was able to settle down late in the game and pull away.

Junior guard Dani Hosking led the way, scoring 20 points. Sophomore Alli Blake had 11 points and center Jenica Johnson scored seven.

Davis played American Fork on Wednesday after press deadline. For updates on their progress through the tournament check Tuesday's Clipper.

TAYLORSVILLE --The Bountiful Braves stuck to their winning formula of playing tough defense to pull out a first-round victory over West, 40-36 Tuesday evening at Salt Lake Community College.

Kate Pawlowski led the Braves with 14 points while Chelsea Forbes had nine points, six rebounds and five assists.

Bountiful advances to challenge 4-A favorite Orem at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday at SLCC.
