In response to the letter written by Becky Hull on March 2, 2006: Gateway Cinemas 8 has been sold! When we took over the theatres four months ago we were well aware of the problems we would face. Ms. Hull's assessments and experiences were quite accurate at the time. The former owner/operator had built and designed the theatre more than 15 years ago and operated it up until the sale to us. Since then we've worked hard to quickly clean up the theatre and re-train the management and staff, making customer service and cleanliness a top priority. We also have plans for remodeling. We are improving the picture and sound presentation along with more soundproofing in the building, adding a new concession stand as well.
We would all like the million dollars that Ms. Hull dreams about in her letter. With that we would offer more auditoriums, stadium seating, etc. We just wish it were that easy.
This area has been good to us and we appreciate everyone's past as well as future patronage. Ms. Hull states in her letter that we charge "the same as nice theatres." This is another inaccuracy. Currently our admission prices are $0.75 less than our competitor, the Gateway 12 downtown.
We also offer Monday as "Family Day" with prices being $4.50 for all shows all day.
We would like to invite all readers to our theater and experience the difference first hand in your own neighborhood. You will continue to notice improvements.
